Akrapovič Evolution Line exhaust for BMW 440i, with carbon tips
Construction and materials
The Evolution is made of austenitic stainless steel. A characteristic element of the design are two central pipes that replace the single pipe of the serial system. The change in the exhaust course is combined with the use of a rear silencer and carbon tips.
The system replaces the factory exhaust from the catalytic converters to its termination. The throttle, which operates in two modes, is controlled by the car's electronics, so that the exhaust responds to driving conditions without the need for separate manual switching.
Sound characteristics
When driving calmly at a constant speed, the sound level remains close to the standard one. With more dynamic handling, a deep, sporty tone is emitted.
The difference between these two characters is related to the operation of the electronically controlled throttle. The system therefore combines a mellow sound during everyday driving with a clearer presence of the engine under load.
Parameters by manufacturer
- Power increase: 2,9 kW / 4 PS at 6400 rpm
- Torque increase: 6,3 Nm at 2550 rpm
- Weight: 20,6 kg; reduction of 0,7 kg.
System Configuration
A complete Evolution system requires both parts: MTP-BM/SS/2H and E-BM/SS/2. The division into two part numbers is due to the way it is packaged. This version is not intended for cars with OPF/GPF filters.
Fitment
The system is provided for the F32 Coupé and F33 Convertible models with xDrive m.in. Not suitable for the F36 Gran Coupé xDrive.

Akrapovič creates performance exhaust systems that combine lightweight construction with carefully developed sound. Depending on the application, the brand uses titanium, stainless steel and carbon-fibre components.
An in-house titanium foundry and materials laboratory support control over key stages of exhaust production. Akrapovic is an option for sports car owners who value component weight, craftsmanship and distinctive tailpipe detailing.
Akrapovič quality control includes alloy composition, mechanical properties and weld analysis. Prototype measurements use optical scanning and coordinate measuring equipment. Sound development combines road testing, dynamometer work, flow measurements and acoustic simulations.
History and development. Akrapovič was founded in 1991, with its development rooted in motorcycle racing. Milestones included entering MotoGP in 2002, opening its own titanium foundry in 2009 and adding a second factory in 2014.
The business today. The company now manufactures motorcycle and performance-car exhausts in Slovenia for aftermarket customers and OEM partners. Racing-team support remains part of its operations. Its laboratories, foundry and manufacturing facilities enable materials research and acoustic development to take place within the business rather than relying solely on external suppliers.
