Downpipe Akrapovič for BMW M340i (G20/21) / M440i (G22/23/G26)
Construction and materials
The downpipe is made of high-quality stainless steel. The front section is made as a casting at the Akrapovič plant, and inside there is a sports catalytic converter with a density of 300 cpsi. The structure is complemented by steel thermal insulation and a flexible connector in the middle part.
This element is an optional Evolution Line extension for the respective M340i and M440i versions. It connects to the titanium Slip-On section and the steel Evolution Link Pipe section.
Sound characteristics
Complete with the Evolution, the sound has a crisp, racing feel, with a particularly strong acoustic response at high revs. Tuning reduces unwanted rumble.
Fit and Configuration
The M340i G20 without OPF/GPF is provided with the S-BM/T/17H + E-BM/SS/8 kit, and the M440i G22 without OPF/GPF is provided with the S-BM/T/18H + E-BM/SS/8. The downpipe is not suitable for cars with the B58TÜ2 engine.

An in-house titanium foundry and materials laboratory support control over key stages of exhaust production. Akrapovic is an option for sports car owners who value component weight, craftsmanship and distinctive tailpipe detailing.
Akrapovič quality control includes alloy composition, mechanical properties and weld analysis. Prototype measurements use optical scanning and coordinate measuring equipment. Sound development combines road testing, dynamometer work, flow measurements and acoustic simulations.
History and development. Akrapovič was founded in 1991, with its development rooted in motorcycle racing. Milestones included entering MotoGP in 2002, opening its own titanium foundry in 2009 and adding a second factory in 2014.
The business today. The company now manufactures motorcycle and performance-car exhausts in Slovenia for aftermarket customers and OEM partners. Racing-team support remains part of its operations. Its laboratories, foundry and manufacturing facilities enable materials research and acoustic development to take place within the business rather than relying solely on external suppliers.
