Akrapovič Mercedes GLS63 AMG (X167) Evolution Line
Akrapovič Evolution Line sports exhaust system dedicated to the Mercedes GLS 63 AMG (X167)
Design and materials
The system is made of lightweight, high-grade titanium and finished by sandblasting. The handmade carbon tips have titanium inner bushings. Akrapovič's own foundry manufactures valve housings, X-pipes and central tip reinforcements.
Three dampers are used: one on each side of the muffler and a third in the active element of the X-pipe connecting section. Their work is managed by a control kit developed specifically for this exhaust. The X-pipe and the valves are an important part of shaping the flow and timbre of the sound.
Sound characteristics
At idle, the exhaust emits a deep, full-bodied tone. As the rpm increases, there is a clear, powerful pulsation, which gradually transitions into high frequencies with a sporty character. The operation of three valves allows this change to be shaped throughout the rev range, while retaining the recognizable timbre of the Akrapovič system.
System Configuration
The exhaust is intended as a replacement for the AMG Performance configuration. The required Control Kit must be selected for the pre- or post-facelift car. An optional Sound Kit is also available for additional sound control.

Akrapovič creates performance exhaust systems that combine lightweight construction with carefully developed sound. Depending on the application, the brand uses titanium, stainless steel and carbon-fibre components.
An in-house titanium foundry and materials laboratory support control over key stages of exhaust production. Akrapovic is an option for sports car owners who value component weight, craftsmanship and distinctive tailpipe detailing.
Akrapovič quality control includes alloy composition, mechanical properties and weld analysis. Prototype measurements use optical scanning and coordinate measuring equipment. Sound development combines road testing, dynamometer work, flow measurements and acoustic simulations.
History and development. Akrapovič was founded in 1991, with its development rooted in motorcycle racing. Milestones included entering MotoGP in 2002, opening its own titanium foundry in 2009 and adding a second factory in 2014.
The business today. The company now manufactures motorcycle and performance-car exhausts in Slovenia for aftermarket customers and OEM partners. Racing-team support remains part of its operations. Its laboratories, foundry and manufacturing facilities enable materials research and acoustic development to take place within the business rather than relying solely on external suppliers.
